CRPA Hall of Fame

The CRPA Hall of Fame provides recognition for professionals and special individuals who have made outstanding, unique, lasting, and extraordinary contributions through recreation and park services in Connecticut.

Rick Maynard

Professional Experience

  • Recreation Supervisor, East Hartford Parks & Recreation, 1978 - 1979 
  • Recreation Supervisor, Cheshire Parks & Recreation, 1979 - 1986
  • Director, East Hartford Parks & Recreation, 1986 - 1990 
  • Director, Guilford Recreation, 1991-2024
  • Oversaw several renovations at Bittner Park: 18-Hole Disc Golf Course, Skate Park, Basketball Court, & Pickleball Courts 
  • Oversaw Long Hill Park Renovations Including Soccer, Lacrosse, Football Practice Fields, & Baseball Fields
  • Oversaw the Design & Construction of a Boardwalk, Parking, Enhanced Grass Area & a Beach Groomer at Jacobs Beach
  • Oversaw the Construction of the First Synthetic Turf Field  in Guildford in 2007 
  • Oversaw Substantial Fundraising Efforts to Ensure Projects Were Completed Without Tax Dollars
  • Establishment of a Dog Park at Nut Plains Park 
  • Partnered with the Connecticut Forest & Park Association and the National Park Service to establish a Gateway from Guilford to New Hampshire for the National New England Trail 
  • Oversaw the East Hartford Golf Club 18-Hole Golf Course, Boat Launch at Great River Park, and Construction of a New Wading Pool at Martin Park During His Time in East Hartford

  • $2.1 Million Nevers Park  Renovation , 137 Acers, 22,000 Square Foot Community Center, Rotary Pavilion, Gary Tyler Memorial Bark Park, My Friends Place Boundless Playground, Skate Park, Jacob’s View Pavilion, Kevin’s Kourt Bank Shot Basketball Court, Rotary Rest Stop, & 3-mile stone dust trail system 
  • $3 Million Outdoor Aquatic Center at Veterans Memorial Park
  • Various Capital Improvement Projects at Rye Street, Little League Complex, Lawrence Road, & John J. Mitchell Fair Grounds
